Oberau Tunnel
The Oberau by-pass will bring the much anticipated relief for this community in the rural district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
The tunnel will be built by conventional tunnelling methods over a length of about 3 kilometres. The alignment will pass through rock formations as well as granular soil. The twin tubes will be connected via 10 cross passages and part of the tunnel will also be built by cut and cover method at the northern portal area. Compensation grouting will mitigate settlements caused by the tunnelling in build-up areas.
