To improve the flood protection at the Guenz river,  the construction of a flood retention basin near the municipality of Engetried is planned. The retention volume is 1,290,000 m³. The basin is planned as a shut-off dam up to 9.0 m high and 543 m long and a two-span control structure (regulation 10.0 m³/s) in conjunction with a flap gate spillway and electrical control.
