Badush Dam, Iraq

With construction of the Badush Dam taken up in the late 1980th, but abandoned later on, as well as the existence of a detailed design from 2009 that has not gone to tender, the Ministry of Water Resources is seeking to finish the project in 2 stages: Stage 1 will see the construction of a 30 m high dam and hydropower plant with a capacity of 170 MW and optional stage 2 will see an increase of the dam height to 90 m as a protective measure for the possible failure of the upstream Mosul Dam.
