28.01.2020 | Open day for the tunnel construction site in Bertoldshofen
On January 17th, 2020, State Construction Authority Kempten together with the construction company BeMo Tunnelling organised the official tunnel hole-through ceremony. On the same day an open day was held for the tunnel construction site for the B472 bypass Marktoberdorf-Bertoldshofen. The background for this was the tunnel hole-through on December 4th, when the two converging tunnelling drives met each other. The general public was given the opportunity to get a first-hand impression of the construction work in the tunnel. Approximately 4,000 visitors then went through the 600 m long tube, which is the main element of the Marktoberdorf-Bertoldshofen bypass. The keynote speakers were Markus Kreitmeier, head of the road construction division of the State Construction Authority Kempten, Dr. Erwin Lohner, district president of Swabia, and Maria Rita Zinnecker, district administrator of the Ostallgaeu district, and patron of the tunnel.
Visitors were able to get an insight into the different stages of tunnel construction by means of displays and short films. These various stations were technically presented by the participating construction companies in order to give the visitors an overview of the challenging underground work. EDR was represented by the design project team, the head of the tunnelling and geotechnical works division and the executive management. EDR prepared the conceptual and tender design for the Bertoldshofen tunnel and worked out the detailed design in the course of the execution of construction.
